More fun in the Vegas desert & Barbie Suite

This was my third year attending WPPI and every year I hope I can get a chance to make it out to the desert for some shooting. Another year passes and I didn’t manage to fit it into the chaotic week. This year though I finally made it out there! Jennifer Williams, Critsey Rowe and Kelly Trerise got a rental car and headed out with just a map in our hands. It was a fun adventure to beat the sun that was slowly setting behind the mountain in our rearview mirror.

We didn’t have a set destination in mind but rather we were driving until we found something. We ended up in an open piece of land, between a country club, what I believe was a cemetery pretty close and a bunch of power lines….oh, and dirt, lots and lots of dirt. Seems perfect to me!

I am really looking forward to next year and I already have ideas going through my mind. I definitely know it’s a must do every year I go to WPPI now. It’s just a different shooting environment than what is “my normal” but that is what I love, getting out of that comfort zone and also having a good time with friends….and random 4 wheelers 😉

 

I am not one for cropping images in such a way but sometimes rules go out the window for an image you love over it being technically “right”.

The sun was quickly setting, in fact, it was right behind the mountain at this point so we used some lighting. I love the extra light from the sky.

The next night Kelly posed for us again after the shoot out. I took some quick shots of her in front of my favorite curtains before heading out to dinner with  a couple friends.  One of the things I have learned in Vegas is you cannot possibly do everything. I really wish I would have stayed and shot more but the time I got to connect with some peers during a long awaited 11PM dinner was so worth it. Plus I know there is always next year in Vegas and try as you might, you just cannot fit every single thing into your schedule.
