Remind to almost 5 years ago, I was just 20 years old and was the new girl at the store. I had just recently moved from Wisconsin to Ohio and had only known 1 person in this very large state. It seems like it could be a scary thing but I think when you’re 20 you feel like you can do anything. Plus, I was pretty proud that I was still young and making a very large move. I left behind a lot of things but in the end, I gained twice as much.
Lauren and I both worked at Old Navy. I was doing full time 6am shifts and Lauren was on customer service so our paths rarely crossed. However somewhere between never seeing each other and not even really knowing each other we both deemed each other not very nice people. In all honestly, I believe we both let the word b!tch come out a few times. Maybe I was taken by her confidence as she worked or the way she carried herself or maybe I was just being a 20 year old punk who thought she knew everything. Either way, our paths crossed but a friendship was truly never made for some time.
A couple years down the road after we both had gone our separate ways and left Old Navy to pursue other, more amazing jobs, our paths crossed again. Lauren and I were facebook friends (because you’re friends with people you don’t like, right??) and randomly we would chat. She asked me one day if I would do engagement pictures for her and her then fiance. I agreed and from there we shall say the rest is history.
Since then we both have grown up a lot. I’m not the same 20 year old and Lauren is no longer the 22 year old. We’ve both pursued new professions, new relationships and new adventures together. Some of the biggest events in my life have happened this past year and she has been there every step of the way. When I went on my first date with Matt, Lauren was the first people I called and said, “I’m going to marry this kid someday.” Her first date with her boyfriend Joe, kept Matt and I up nearly until 1AM when she got back to my place with the biggest smile on her face. It felt amazing to see my best friend so happy. We’ve cried together, laughed together, done stupid things together and have become to people who didn’t like each other to best friends.
For Lauren’s 27th birthday we did a boudoir session. I won’t share all the pictures but this is one of my favorites. At least I know I can always get a good trashy magazine from her 😉
Love you Lauren!
And because I love ridiculous pictures, here is one of Lauren and I at my studio opening where she worked her butt off to help me getting everything ready!
